For those of you haven't read this, I recommend you do soon, as Hollywood is making a movie out of the second book. Here's the entire sequence:

(I read this series several years ago, and re-read them often) I think that people should start with The Dark Is Rising, because IMHO its the best one. Then read Over Sea, Under Stone. Greenwitch, for me, did hardly anything for the plot. You can skip it and not miss a lot. The Grey King and Silver on the tree are very good and should be read after TDiR

This... This is true. And you definately shouldn't read the books OUT OF ORDER. I knew someone who started by reading the Greenwitch, and he hated it. Because he didn't get it. Gee, I wonder why...
But yeah, I agree that TDiR was definately the best one. Which is why they're making a movie out of it.
